Philly Bike Life

Now that you have gotten to know who we are, learn more about us and our process. WE will be rolling out a series of guest posts from our riders and sponsors.  Kaelin Proud shows us just some of the reasons she loves Philly’s bike life.
WE Bike NYC is organizing ten women from five organizations to ride 262 miles on bicycles from New York City to Washington, DC to represent their communities at the nation’s largest annual bicycle advocacy event, the National Bike Summit on March 3, 2014. WE are so pleased to be supported by WomanTours, Bicycle Times Magazine and Transportation Alternatives. For more about the ride, check out our fundraising page HERE!
Here are just a few fun facts about the bicycle friendly city of Philadelphia:
1.  Look at this beautiful picture of Philadelphia’s Schuylkill River Trail!  The trail alone in Philadelphia is 10 miles long and connects to a larger trail that is over 120 miles long.
2.  Our Mayor rides a bike AND wears a helmet! Mayor Nutter takes a bike ride with bike-share vendors around Rittenhouse Square. (DAVID MAIALETTI / STAFF PHOTOGRAPHER)<br />
3.  We have one of the highest percentages of female cyclists in the US (thanks for the information, Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia)!   4.   We have amazing cycling organizations!
