Event Spotlight: Cranksgiving!

WE are SO EXCITED to be participating in Cranksgiving for our 3rd ANNUAL YEAR! Cranksgiving is a national bike community event that is hosted in cities across the country throughout the month of November.

Cranksgiving was started in 1999 and is New York City’s oldest “alleycat” (messenger-style) race. This food drive on wheels brings together cyclists of all levels to traverse Manhattan in a scavenger hunt for Thanksgiving-themed canned goods! Racers must map out the most efficient route between checkpoints and keep all receipts from purchases to prove that they were bought at the participating stores. All of the groceries that are collected are donated to a food pantry at the end of the race to provide a Thanksgiving feast for those in need.

Not only is it for a great cause, but Cranksgiving remains one of the most welcoming, all-inclusive alleycat events. Participants often wear costumes and decorate their bikes, and tandems, unicycles, and Citibikes have been spotted at past Cranksgivings! Prizes are awarded at the afterparty for categories such as best costume and DFL (dead-f***ing-last).

WE hope you will consider riding Cranksgiving this year, on Saturday, November 22nd.
